Geetanjali Mishra: Friendship is the only relationship you make on your own
Mumbai, 08 August 2024 (UTN). Actress Geetanjali Mishra, who is part of the show Happu ki Ultan Paltan produced by Sanjay and Binaiferr Kohli, says that friendship means the world to her, as her friends have been chosen by her, and not bound her relationship. She adds that trust and support is a must for any friendship to succeed. “Friendship has a very special significance in everyone’s life because this is the only relation which you make by your own choice with your own decisions, while all other relations are God gifted. Naming one will be a little difficult because there are different meanings of friends. But, to name a few, on a personal level, I will say Ankita. She was my fan, then became a friend, then became a family member. While on the professional and personal front, Capt. Vineet Chaturvedi is a close friend. His company manages my work too,” she says. Ask her what qualities does she value most in her best friend, and she says, “The basic qualities of friends are trust, support and willingness to ensure that your friend doesn’t get in any kind of trouble.” She adds, “Everyone is busy when it comes to work relationships. But everyone can be free when it comes to friends.” Talking about her friends on her current show, she says, “Sapna Sikarwar is my friend. She was my neighbour a long back and now we are working in the same show. She plays my sister’s role and offscreen also we’re like sisters. Her work environment is very light as we like to crack jokes with each other.”She adds, “In our show it's all about acting between action and cut, while in real life, it’s all about real emotions, hence there can’t be any comparison.” Mumbai-Reporter,(Hitesh Jain).

Having a true friend nowadays is a blessing: Jhumma Mitra
Mumbai, 06 August 2024 (UTN). With International Friendship Day just around the corner, Jhumma Mitra, who plays Padma in Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah’s Studio LSD’s Pyaar Ka Pehla Adhyaya: Shiv Shakti, believes true friends are very rare these days. She said, “With the lack of time and our ever-rising busy schedules, having a true friend nowadays is a blessing; it is what keeps us grounded and connected to reality, be it on screen or off screen. Friends are very important.” She stressed that, for her, honesty is very important in friendship. She added, “As an actor, the whole world praises you and gives you a sense of superiority, but a friend is someone who should be honest enough to point out your good and bad qualities rather than creating a fake cocoon of only praise; he or she should keep your ego in check and make you humble.” Jhumma has two best friends: Roma Sinha, my childhood friend, and Niveen Ramani, my bestie from the entertainment world, and she shares everything with them. She said that there are times that she doesn’t speak to her childhood bestie for months because of her busy schedules, but at the end of the day, she knows they are there for each other no matter what. She added, “Thanks to social media and all the messaging apps that allow video calling, keeping in touch is not very difficult, but being truthful rather than making excuses for not keeping in touch helps maintain a healthy friendship.” In her ongoing show, she made friends with Parineeta Borthakur, who was seen as Mandira in the show. “Our friendship was very evidently seen in our scenes too, and we have had many fans compliment our onscreen Jodi, so a great friend on set always makes work more fun, and the outcome is amazing too,” she said. She also pointed out that the characters’s friendships in the show are obviously fabricated by the writers. She said, “On screen, Padma is a selfish, self-centered person who only makes friends to get something out of the other person. Except for Mandira, who has become a very dear friend, and I couldn't stop my tears on her last day of shooting. But in reality, Jhumma is nowhere close to Padma in her nature. If I make friends, it's for life, and I'm very choosy about making friends.” How has friendship contributed to your personal and professional growth? “Personally, my friends don't treat me special; they don't praise me for unnecessary things; they remind me of my roots; they keep me grounded and humble. Professionally, I think friends on set or from the fraternity once in a while help in getting a new project if I fit in; they might help with a dialogue or a phrase or grammar in my case,” Jhumma ended. Friendship is unique because it’s the only relationship you create for yourself, says Shiwani Chakraborty
Mumbai, 06 August 2024 (UTN). Actress Shiwani Chakraborty, who is currently seen in the show Maati Se Bandhi Dor, says that her friends will always be special for her. She adds that she is very particular about how she chooses her friends. “Friends are the best part of life. God has made every relationship, and some are said to be made in heaven. But friendship is unique because it’s the only relationship you create for yourself. It's a gift that we get to choose our friends, and choosing the right ones is a very important task. Sometimes we become friends without much thought or judgment, but in this world, it's crucial to be clear about who should be your friend and who shouldn't. It may sound harsh, but it's necessary, especially for emotional people like me,” she says. She adds, “You don't need to have a lot of friends; having a bunch of friends is great, but the best friend is always one because ‘best’ is singular. For me, friendship is a bond that can exist with anyone—your mother, sister, brother, or anyone else. Your best friend could be someone from your nursery days to college or even for life. What's essential in a friend is that they don't judge you. Friendship is a beautiful relationship to celebrate.” Talking about her best friend, she says, “I have a best friend, Simran Wadhwa, who has been with me since nursery school. We didn't know how it started; maybe we were just sitting together on a bench, sharing something through little gestures. As we grew up, we realised that we were best friends in every situation—school, college, tuition, coaching, and whatever came our way. We were partners in crime in our hometown. Simran's name brings back so many memories, especially since I'm a filmy girl. She's happily married now, living in Bangalore with her family, but those memories of giggling, laughing, teasing, and all the crazy stuff from school remain.” She adds, “About ten or twelve years after school, we met again. It was hectic; I remember rushing from a shoot, and she was in Mumbai with her friends. It was raining, but I made sure we met. The same energy, smile, and innocence were still there. There are so many stories from school, but one I’ll share is about a picnic; I even have a picture from it.” She wishes that everyone finds such a good friend. “I wish everyone finds a great best friend, whether in your family, school, or college. I feel blessed to have good friends, not many, but a few who are very close to me. We love each other without judgment or grudges. Happy Friendship Day!” she says. Mumbai-Reporter, (Hitesh Jain).

Gulfam Khan Hussain: I don't believe in the tag of 'best' friend
Mumbai, 06 August 2024 (UTN). Actress Gulfam Khan Hussain, who is part of the show Gehna- Zewar Ya Zanjeer, says that she has never believed in having just one close friend. The actress adds that she has a group of friends who she is very close to. “Friends are the family you choose. I have a bunch of friends, and I feel blessed to have them. I don't believe in the tag of 'best' friend, just like a parent can't say that one child is their 'favourite.' I can't say that any one friend is the best,” she says. She adds, “Friendship, to me, is sacred. Loyalty means everything. Just like with siblings, you might fight or have differences, but you know you'll always be there for each other. You'll always have each other's backs. My oldest friend is Maitri (coincidentally, her name means 'Friendship'). We've been friends since we were three years old. We have a group of five friends from school who are constantly in touch. Other childhood friends I'm still very close to include Sameera Menezes Pinto and Qamar Baig Jangid. I'm like the non-biological daughter of the Baig family. I also have close friends in the industry.” The actress adds that her friends mean the world to her. “In a few words, I have quite a few friends who are there for life. I have their backs, and they have mine. As the lyrics of the famous sitcom FRIENDS go: I'll be there for you (When the rain starts to pour) I'll be there for you (Like I've been there before) I'll be there for you ('Cause you're there for me too). It’s very important to seek career counseling: Gunjan Saini
Mumbai, 06 August 2024 (UTN). Amazon Mini TV’s Gutur Gu actress Gunjan Saini, who is also a poet, says she chose a few different career paths before becoming an actor. From choosing science in 11th grade to nursing and then acting, she went through some challenging choices and believes it’s important to get career counseling. She said, “I took science in 11th grade due to peer pressure, although my father had advised me to take arts since I had been learning Kathak from the age of 4. He really wanted me to become a professional dancer. After 12th grade, I took the All India Nursing Exam and got into AIIMS Bhopal. I had a neighbor who was a nurse at AIIMS, and she was earning well.” “Seeing her, I wanted to pursue nursing. In my third year of nursing, I reflected on my love for dancing and acting, which led me to pursue mass communication in Mumbai. I believe it’s very important to seek career counseling. My father helped me decide on nursing and assisted in finding the right college. During the 3rd and 4th years of nursing, when I decided to become an artist, I was on that journey alone,” she added. Gunjan further shared that watching M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story really motivated her to take risks. When she is indecisive about some choices, she usually seeks advice from her close friends, partner, or management team. She said, “I am blessed to be surrounded by good people who are honest with me. I am a big risk-taker, living as an artist, and no risk can be bigger than that.”“Despite the uncertainty, I am still pursuing my dreams, writing every day with the hope that everything will fall into place. I am at a stage where fear doesn't stop me from taking risks. I love multitasking and keeping myself busy, so I edit my videos myself to stay occupied. Whenever I experience self-doubt, I ask my close ones for affirmations, and their encouragement helps me start hustling again,” Gunjan ended. Mumbai-Reporter, (Hitesh Jain).

Sumbul Touqeer Khan on Kavita Kaushik retiring from TV due to regressive content
Mumbai, 06 August 2024 (UTN). Actress Sumbul Touqeer Khan, who is currently seen in the show Kavya - Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon, says that actress Kavita Kaushik bidding adieu from TV due to outdated content shows that TV needs to update its content. She says that it’s time to make big changes. “it is a strong sign. When talented actors leave because of the poor quality of stories, it shows there is a problem. It’s definitely time for the industry to think about making big changes in the kind of content we create,” she says. Talking about the lack of progressive content on TV, she says, “I believe TV should show more progressive content. I have come across some old-fashioned stories. When that happens, I try to discuss with the team and see if we can make it better and more impactful. I sometimes think of the story as an audience and not an actor who is playing the character to get a better knowledge about the content.” She adds, “I think the industry is slowly changing. There are efforts to bring new and better stories. But it takes time for everyone to accept and embrace these changes.” Ask her what changes she thinks are necessary for the TV industry to move towards more progressive and inclusive content, and she says, “We need to listen to the audience more and understand what they want. Writers should focus on real-life issues and diverse stories. More creativity and boldness in storytelling will help. I think times are changing and people are more interested in real life rather than reel life.” She adds, “Actors can choose roles that have a positive impact or characters that leave a lasting impact and are remembered for lifetime. We can speak up about the need for better stories and support projects that bring change.” Mumbai-Reporter, (Hitesh Jain).
